To support Kids First Vietnam's (KFV) many accomplishments I’ve set the goal to contribute $5,000.00 in 2009 by challenging myself to run four marathons in 12 months. Since 2000, I’ve run a total of nine marathons (a marathon is 26.2 miles), and never more than two in a single year. I donated the first $1,000.00 toward my fundraising goal and am asking family, friends, and colleagues to donate another $4,000.00 to reach my goal of $5,000.00. I’m pleased to report that I successfully ran the four marathons.

The marathons I ran in 2009 are:
- Tampa Bay Gasparilla, Tampa, Florida on March 1
- Christiana Care Delaware, Wilmington, Delaware on May 17
- Adirondack Marathon, September 20
- Dallas White Rock, Dallas, Texas on December 13
I live in Newark, Delaware with my wife Dayle. Dayle works at the University of Delaware and I work as a law librarian at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. In February 2003, Dayle and I were part of the Kids First delegation which visited the many Kids First projects in Vietnam. It was my first trip back to Vietnam since serving there from December 1968 to December 1969 as a medic in a field hospital. In February 2005, I was part of the KFV Bike Ride team. I contributed $6,000.00 to the total $100,000.00 raised by the bike team that year.
I thank all of you who have donated to my Marathon Challenge.
If you are a new supporter and would like to further the humanitarian mission of KFV you may donate by check or online.
